Cultured versus the perception of culture

The more I travel, the more I realize there is a type of person who wants to have the perception of being cultured without actually being cultured.

There is an old saying in PR that “perception is reality” and maybe they’re shooting for that. Culture can be a powerful influencer on a person’s identity and it’s an influence that political and consumer communicators should keep in mind.
