Over the long holiday weekend, the Fullers took a nice trip to Knoxville to see our good friends, the Howells. They have a baby boy who is about four months younger than Virginia Anne and they had a blast playing together. Will has some very cool toys, including a play kitchen (but a manly one with a grill), a workbench, and a barn big enough for VA to stand up in. She was especially excited about a push walker in the shape of a truck. She practiced walking all over the house with that truck and we could really see the improvements she'd made in her balance after we got home. Virginia Anne will move books and toys from one side of the room to the other, even while carrying her treasured baby doll and/or cup/bottle.
Will and Virginia Anne even took their first trip to the pool together, although she wasn't brave enough to go in yet. The bathing suit, sunglasses and hat were mighty cute, though, if I do say so myself. On the way home, she figured out how to drink with a straw! The look on her face was priceless when that cold water hit her mouth. Playing with her friends who live down the street has become her favorite past-time and is evidence that her baby days are long over and we are now residents of toddler-hood.
